QUARTIERI

CAPITOL HILL E EASTERN MARKET (DI GIORNO Must dei turisti, palamento)

Visitate il Capitol Hill, che è il parlamento USA. Si può prenotare la visita gratis online http://www.visitthecapitol.gov/plan-visit/book-tour-the-capitol . Bello da vedere ma non paragonabile ai nostri standard (anche se architettonicamente molto bello) più scenografico da fuori che all’interno).

Eastern Market: mercato di frutta e verdura, molto carino, ma da tralasciare se non avete molto tempo.

DOWNTOWN (DI GIORNO must dei turisti, Casa Bianca)

-Casa Bianca (Non si può entrare, bella la piazza davanti),

- Giro per Pennsylvania Avenue, World Bank e Fondo monetario

- Metro center e F street (zona business e negozi molto belli, MACY’S tipica catena chic americana (cinque piani di moda e arredamento casa)

- Chinatown: quartiere cinese. Tra la 7 e G street c’e’ la porta cinese

NATIONAL MALL (DI GIORNO, di NOTTE x una PASSEGGIATA parchi e musei (tanti, tipo 20, tutti gratuiti))

- MUSEI: Sono tutti gestiti da una fondazione, gli Smithsonian (dal nome della facoltosa famiglia) tutti qui: http://www.si.edu/Visit

- MEMORIALI dedicati a vari personaggi/guerre della storia americana (da vedere a qualsiasi ora)

. del Vietnam, della guerra di Corea, della Seconda Guerra Mondiale, Washington Monument (enorme obelisco)

- Kennedy Center (centro x le arti, spettacoli gratuiti (di solito concerti) alle 18 tutti i giorni…”Millenium stage” ) http://www.kennedy-center.org/programs/millennium/

Bellissimo da vedere da lontano (tipo dalla passeggiata di Georgetown di notte) http://www.kennedy-center.org/index.cfm

DUPONT CIRCLE (QUALSIASI ORA zona artistica, bar, quartiere cool, zona gay;)

Bar, locali, librerie (Kramer book è un istituzione ),

 Fatevi tutta Massachutts avenue, dalla L fino a Florida avenue.

GEORGETOWN ( DI GIORNO,Quartiere super chic, carinissimo (casette basse e colorate)

 Zona molto costosa per vivere, vecchio insediamento di Washington (per questo c’è ancora il vecchio porto e i canali), dove si dice che la gente è talmente “posh”, che non vuole la metropolitana, che infatti non c’e’..

Negozi Tutta M st e Wisconsyn avenue, continuando per Wisconsyn Ave

Se avete tempo fate un giro al parco di Dumbarton Oaks http://www.doaks.org/research/garden-landscape

ADAMS MORGAN, U STREET, 14 TH STREET (SERA, locali, bar, ristoranti, ballare)Dalla M in poi, verso Nord della città)

- Adams Morgan è un quartiere alternativo, basicamente è una strada con locali di ogni tipo, e murales , diventata “cool” recentemente (tipo il Pigneto a Roma)

-La 14 Th è una strada strapiena di locali carinissimi, riorganizzata negli ultimi 2 anni

- U street è la strada delle discoteche, locali…

ALTRE COSE DA VEDERE ( Se c’è tempo…)

 Arlington Cementery (dove e’ sepolto Kennedy. Potete fare il giro in bus perchè il cimitero è enorme).

Alexandria: cittadina carinissima, old fashioned, attaccata a Washigton (ci si arriva con la metro) 

MUSEI (National Mall e zona Dupont)

Sono quasi tutti gratuiti (tutti quelli sovvenzionati dagli Smithsonian): orario dalle 830 alle 17, Occhio che chiudono presto: andate al NGA (National Gallery of Arts) e consigliere pure l’Air and Space Museum (navicelle luna). http://www.si.edu/Visit

- Se avete tempo e vi piacciono gli impressionisti, andate alla Philips Collection, costa $ 9  e c’è la “Colazione dei Canottieri” di Renoir e vari quadri impressionisti. http://www.phillipscollection.org/index.aspx

-National Geographic: bello, ma il biglietto è piuttosto costoso. Però ci sono sempre mostre fotografiche gratuite in un’ala dell’edificio.

Eastern Market : Market of fruits and vegetables , very cute

DOWNTOWN ( DAY must of tourists, the White House)

- White House ( You can not enter , the beautiful square in front ) ,

- Tour around Pennsylvania Avenue , World Bank and IMF

- Metro center and F street ( business area and very nice shops, chain chic MACY 'S typical American ( five floors of fashion and home decor )

- Chinatown: Chinatown . Between 7 and G street there 'the Chinese gate"

NATIONAL MALL ( DAY , NIGHT WALK xa parks and museums (more than 15 museums all free of charge ) )

- MUSEUMS : They are all managed by a foundation, the Smithsonian (named after the wealthy family ) all here:http://www.si.edu/Visit

- MEMORIALS dedicated to various characters from American history (to be seen at any time )

. Vietnam, the Korean War, the Second World War , Washington Monument ( huge obelisk )

- Kennedy Center ( x arts center , free shows (usually concerts) at 18 every day ... " Millenium stage")  http://www.kennedy-center.org/index.cfm  Awesome to see from a distance (such as the promenade of Georgetown at night) 

DUPONT CIRCLE ( ANY TIME artistic area , bar, cool neighborhood , the gay area ;)

Bars, clubs, libraries ( Kramer book is an institution) , nice shops 

 Go all Massachutts avenue , from L to Florida avenue .

GEORGETOWN ( DAY , District chic and fashionable, very cute)

 Very expensive area to live, old settlement of Washington (which is why there is still the old harbor and canals ) , where it says that people are so " posh " , who does not want the subway, that in fact there is no ' . .

- Adams Morgan is an "alternative", cool  neighborhood: is basically a street with bars of every kind , 

- The 14 th is a street packed with local cute , reorganized the past 2 years

- U Street is the street of clubs, pubs ...

OTHER SIGHTS ( If there is time ... )

 Arlington Cementery ( where ' buried Kennedy. Can you do the bus tour because the cemetery is huge) 

Alexandria : cute town , old fashioned , attached to Washigton ( you can get there by metro )

MUSEUMS (National Mall area and Dupont )

They are almost all free (all those supported by the Smithsonian ) : time from 830 to 5 PM,

go to the NGA (National Gallery of Arts) and adviser well as the Air and Space Museum ( spacecraft moon) . http://www.si.edu/Visit

- If you have time and you like the Impressionists , go to the Philips Collection ,( costs $ 9) for Impressionist paintings . http://www.phillipscollection.org/index.aspx

-National Geographic: nice, but the ticket is quite expensive. But there are always free exhibitions in a wing of the building.
